What is MBSR?
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was created by Jon Kabat-Zinn 40 years ago. Jon has pioneered the rigorous training and scientific study of meditation and yoga as practices in the MBSR curriculum. MBSR is the most researched mindfulness program available.

Meditation and MBSR requires no special equipment and it is not complicated to learn. It can be practiced anywhere. More and more people are turning to meditation but do not know where to begin. Lori will gently guide individuals through the process of learning stress reduction techniques, leading to a more peaceful and healthier life.
MBSR 8-Week Course Description
Learning to practice mindfulness provides a way of relating directly with whatever is happening in your life, a way of taking charge of your life, of consciously and systematically noticing and responding to your own stress and pain, and to the challenges and demands of living, as well.
All MBSR 8-week courses begin with an orientation to see if the format and the class is a good fit for you.
The standard MBSR course consists of eight, weekly sessions each lasting 2.5 hours, plus an all-day session that includes a full day of mindfulness practice.
Each session focuses on one particular topic that is explored with specific exercises, as well as presentations from Lori and in dialogue among the group participants.
Some topics in an MBSR course are mindful communication, working with difficult emotions, stress physiology/stress reaction, and how one’s perception can influence our relationship to stressful events. Each class has at least one guided meditation.
